Ran the dogs in in the Michigan Amateur Field Trial Club hunting dog stake at the Gladwin Field Trial Area Sunday April 10th. First time I’ve run all 3 dogs in this event. There was 3 inches of hard crusty snow on the ground, and drizzle/freezing rain most the day. Birds where hard to come by, but Litha managed a nice clean find on a woodcock, and placed 1st. Alder had a nice run as well, and placed 3rd out of a field of 20 dogs. Beat out a field of mostly English setters and a few German shorthairs.
Alder of the left with one of the field trial judges, and Litha second to left with myself. Nice to finally get a win at a grouse/woodcock trial for the old girl.

We are planning on breeding Breck again late spring. Our vet recommended we breed her to a different male and hope that makes a difference. Sometimes two dogs just don’t genetically work together. We will post details soon.
Breeding with Hunter’s Moon Dancer “Emma” is on hold. Her hips were very close but not quite above breeding standard. We will consider a second X-Ray in a few months with her.
Unfortunately Breck’s breeding didn’t take. We will try to breed her again her next heat cycle if all goes well. In the mean time we are planning a breeding very soon with Dancer out of our D litter. We are waiting on the results of her hip X-rays, and pending breeding approval with the SMCNA. Here’s a couple pictures.

Great news! Breck was approved for breeding by SMCNA last month. She was judged to have very good overall conformation. We are excited about breeding Breck on her next season, which should be late spring. Please see our planned breeding page for information. For more pictures and information on Breck, please visit her page.
First of all we want to thank all the C litter pup owners for natural ability testing their dogs this past summer and fall. A total of 6 pups tested and they all did a great job. As a result we will be awarded a natural ability breeders award for the C litter from both NAVHDA and SMCNA.

We’ve had some great weather the past few days, so the pups been spending plenty of time outside. Of course, all the playing gets tiring and they need some time relax.

After a week of rain everyday, we finally had a nice sunny day here in Michigan. The pups got to spend a lot of the day outside today. They really love playing with balls and wrestling around, so here’s a short video of today’s fun.

Here a couple videos of the puppies from this weekend.
This video shows the puppies getting called to dinner. It’s amazing how fast the puppies recognize the sound of the dinner bell.
This video shows the pups playing hard.
And, finally, here is a picture of the pups all tuckered out:
