It’s hard to believe the puppies are 8 weeks old, and will be going to their new homes soon. They have been a lot of fun, and very entertaining with all of their energy. They did great at the vet a little over a week ago, and took well to getting baths. Here’s a picture of all them cuddled up after their bath yesterday. It’s hard to believe the pups where just learning to walk 2 weeks ago. Now they can not only run, but they can run up and down stairs. Here’s a short video of the pups coming outside for dinner.
This weekend the puppies had their first solid meal, and they seemed to enjoy it. in fact, they had very nice naps right after the meal.
And, tonight we decided to let them run around outside. Some of them had fun and others just seemed to like the smell of the grass.

Just like our previous litters we give the pups kennel names. Since this is our C litter, all names must begin with the letter C.
Puppy owners can keep the kennel name, or choose their own C name. The pups call name has no restrictions, so can be the kennel name, or any name the owner chooses.
To see the names we’ve chosen, along with a couple pics of each, pup, please visit the Puppy Gallery.
The pups are also getting pretty active so here’s a quick video of them in their new play area. Enjoy!
Litha is doing a great job as usual!
The puppies have almost doubled in weight, and are all doing great. One of the males was even trying to stand up and walk today (video below). They are all getting some brown coming in on their pads, so they will all have various amounts of ticking like their parents.

August 25th, Patrick Day tested his male Axel out of the A litter in Maine. We were excited to hear Axel did great, and got a perfect score 112 Prize 1. Way to go Axel and Patrick.
August 17th, I tested our male Alder from the A litter and our little female Breck from the B litter, at the Northern Michigan Chapter. Unfortunately, Alder still had some pointing issues and got an 88 NP. He did great in everything else, and we know he’ll come around. Breck who just turned 5 months old the day before, got a 93 Prize 3.
Not 100% sure, but we think that makes her the 3rd youngest Small Munsterlander to prize in natural ability. I didn’t plan on running her until next spring, but she was doing so well I changed my mind after I heard there was an opening. I thought she might even have a chance at a Prize 1, but she got out too far for the judges to see her in the field. She got the full points in the water and tracking though. Still pretty good for such a young pup, and I’m very happy with her. Now we are looking forward to the ruffed grouse opener September 15th.
The last month has been busy. May 4-6 I went to the Small Munsterlander Conference in Lyons, NY. I brought Preston and Lisa Graham’s puppy Addi (Hunter’s Moon Bela) with me, and they drove down from Connecticut to get her. They where so excited to meet her, and she will be the Graham’s 2nd Small Munsterlander.
Jack Bouska drove over from Illinois with his Dad Dan and brother S.J. to pick up his pup Remington, AKA Remy (Bruna from our B litter). This will be 13 year old Jack’s first hunting dog, and the Bouska’s 3rd Small Munsterlander.
On June 1st Hunter’s Moon Kennel had 3 pups from the A litter run NAVHDA natural ability. Dan Kinnee and Alma Samuel (Sammy) achieved a Prize 1 108 points. Our 2 males Argos and Alder also ran. Argos got a Prize 1 107 points. Alder decided he didn’t want to do the water retrieve, so he didn’t pass. We will give him another chance in a couple months at the next test.
After the NAVHDA testing, we had a chukar left from training the boys, so we let Breck have a little fun. She found the bird and proceeded to prance around with her prize.
The pups are 6 weeks old now, and are really gaining their independence. They love to go outside in the dog run, and chase each other around. We let them play with a grouse wing this weekend, and they really loved it. Here’s a short video of the fun.
