The pups have had their first baths, learned to go up and down the 3 steps to get outside and started eat food this week. They’ve grown a lot and became a little more independent which gave Litha (their mom) a chance to compete in the Lakeshore Ruffed Grouse Society Fun Trial.
Hunter’s Moon Alder also tagged along and received many compliments even though he didn’t run in the trial. Litha received honorable mention (5th out of 27 dogs) in the pointing dog division. The event was covered by the Grand Rapids Press. Click here to read the article.

The pups turned 4 weeks old Friday, and went outside yesterday for the first time. They all had a good time running around and playing. They even showed some boldness, and did a little exploring. Below is a quick video of them out in the grass.

Pups are 3 weeks old now, and their puppy teeth are just starting to come in. All of them are walking now, and quickly getting more coordinated. They are starting to bark at mom when they get hungry, and initiating play with each other. Not to mention they are so stinking cute at this age too!

The puppies opened their eyes on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Today, at 2 weeks old, the first puppy started to walk. Below is a short video.

Puppies have doubled in size already, and had their dew claws removed. Our vet was really impressed with how well they looked so far. Their eyes should be opening later this week.

Puppies arrived yesterday afternoon after a long labor. Three healthy beautiful little girls. All will be brown & white just like their parents. The girls and mom are all doing great. Check back for updates as they grow.

We have been to the vet, and he has confirmed Litha will be having another litter. Yay!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Hunter’s Moon Kennel!
We had a really good grouse season. We didn’t get a lot of snow so we were able to go hunting quite a few times in December.
The last week has been busy. Our last two male pups were sold and have new homes in opposite ends of the country. Axel (Male 3) went to Connecticut and Astro (Male 7) to Washington.
We sure will miss them, but are happy that they are with their new families. Both families were very excited to have their new puppies.

The weather has been really nice here in Michigan. This afternoon we took two of the available pups into the woods behind the house where there was room for them to explore. The pups are now 4 1/2 months old, a little over half grown, and weigh around 28 pounds.
